This 3.58-carat Natural Blue Sapphire, traditionally known as Neelam, carries the enduring appeal of blue in one of jewellery’s most revered gemstones. Its blue colour has a calm, dignified character that suits both classic and contemporary settings, bringing to mind the depth of an evening sky. The oval shape gives the stone a graceful outline for a ring or pendant, while allowing its natural colour to remain the focus.
A particularly important quality is its report stating no indications of thermal enhancement. In fine sapphires, this is valued because the recorded colour and character are presented without thermal enhancement. It gives buyers an opportunity to appreciate the gemstone in its naturally documented state, an aspect that holds special interest for those who value traditional gem quality and a clear laboratory record.
The sapphire has notable inclusions, a feature that can occur in natural blue sapphires and should be viewed as part of the stone’s individual character. It is accompanied by certification from Nine Gems Lab and the Gemmological Institute of Colombo (GIC), providing professional documentation for its stated identity and treatment observations. In a bespoke jewel, this oval blue sapphire would sit beautifully in a refined solitaire ring, perhaps framed with diamonds, or as the centre of an elegant pendant.
In Vedic astrology, Neelam is associated with Saturn (Shani), the planet traditionally linked with discipline, responsibility, endurance and long-term achievement. Blue Sapphire holds an important place in Jyotish practice and is traditionally worn by those seeking to strengthen Shani’s steady, grounding influence after suitable astrological guidance. This natural Blue Sapphire from Nine Gems, Bengaluru, brings together the beauty of a classic Neelam with the meaningful no-heat character valued by discerning gemstone lovers and Vedic jewellery patrons.
