This 2.69 carat Natural Ruby, known in India as Manikya, carries a rich Purplish Red colour that gives the classic ruby palette an individual, expressive character. The red remains the heart of the stone, while the subtle purple influence adds depth and a slightly regal warmth. Ruby has long been treasured as one of the world’s great coloured gemstones, admired for its vivid association with passion, confidence and enduring beauty.
A particularly important feature of this ruby is its report of no indications of thermal enhancement. This means its recorded colour and character have not been thermally enhanced, a quality that is especially appreciated by buyers who value a gemstone in its naturally documented state. The notable inclusions are part of the stone’s internal character; inclusions are commonly present in natural rubies and should be viewed with an understanding of the gem’s individual formation.
The oval shape gives this Manikya a graceful outline suited to a refined ring, pendant or a traditional bespoke design. Its warm Purplish Red tone would sit beautifully in yellow gold for a classic Indian look, while platinum or white gold can create a more contemporary contrast. Certification from Nine Gems Lab and IIGJ Research & Laboratories | GJEPC (IIGJ) accompanies the gemstone, recording the reported identity and treatment observation for added clarity.
In Vedic astrology, ruby is traditionally associated with the Sun (Surya), the planet linked with self-expression, authority, vitality and inner confidence. Manikya holds an important place in Jyotish traditions as Surya’s principal gemstone, often chosen by those exploring the Sun’s role in their birth chart with a knowledgeable astrologer. At Nine Gems, Bengaluru, this natural ruby offers a meaningful blend of traditional significance, warm colour and documented no-heat character.
